ATHENS - It’s easy to see why Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs signed the No. 1 recruiting class for the 2024 cycle.
It was a class loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, and most of the 2024 signees arrived in Athens this winter so they could participate in spring practice. Expectations are high for several talented freshmen, and we saw a few of them make big plays during Georgia’s G-Day scrimmage.
Let’s take a look at how some of the freshmen fared on Saturday...
DB KJ Bolden
No that wasn’t Lewis Cine or Malaki Starks flying to the ball-carrier on Saturday, that was 5-star defensive back, KJ Bolden. The Georgia staff wanted him BADLY in the 2024 class, and it’s easy to see why. Not only was his speed on display, but he showed strong instincts as well for someone his age. He’s an elite athlete with an incredibly bright future ahead of him. He ended G-Day with four tackles.
TE Jaden Reddell
A pass-catching machine with good size already, Reddell’s ball skills were on full display as he hauled in five passes for 23 yards for the black team. He showed strong hands and the ability to fight for yards after first contact. Todd Hartley has several high-level tight ends on the roster, but Reddell won’t be on the bench for very long.
RB Chauncey Bowens
Of Georgia’s three running back signees, Bowens is the only one on campus right now. With the Dawgs banged up some at running back, Bowens was able to pick up some carries, carrying the ball five times for 22 yards while catching one pass for five more yards. He may be buried on the depth chart, but he’s still a running back to keep an eye on down the road.
WR Sacovie White
One of the lower-ranked signees in Georgia’s top-ranked 2024 class, White was a playmaking machine at Cass and made an impact late in the G-Day scrimmage. The quick, shifty pass-catcher caught two passes on Saturday for 29 yards and one touchdown. Look for him to out-play his three-star ranking by the time his career in Athens is over.
