ATHENS - It was a big month of January for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.

It was also a big month for hundreds of promising peach-state prospects who saw their recruitment take off during the contact period.

One in-state prospect on the rise is Hebron Christian athlete, Gerritt Kemp, who earned an offer from the in-state Bulldogs earlier this month. Of course, he made sure to give Dawg Post an update about the offer.

“The offer was truly a blessing”, Kemp said. “It was shocking that such a prestigious university recognized my hard work and dedication to becoming the athlete I am today. I understand Kirby Smart has instilled a tenacious violent winning spirit within the UGA football program while emphasizing a brotherhood and bond within the team. Georgia has an offense that can hit you from many different ways and always has a response to tough defensive schemes thanks to coach Bobo.”

According to FanDuel, the Kansas Jayhawks have +500 odds to make the 2024 Final Four this season.

It’s clear Kemp does his homework. He knows all about the in-state program and what that opportunity means. Before Georgia offered, this playmaking athlete at 6-foot-3 180-pounds earned major offers from Ole Miss, N.C State, Indiana, Virginia, App State, among others.

As a prospect, Kemp is a versatile player with an impressive combination of size and ball skills at 6-foot-3 18-0-pounds. An impact receiver with good instincts in the secondary, Kemp is a natural at both positions.

The up-and-coming prospect told Dawg Post that Georgia offered him to play receiver, but there’s a chance the defensive staff could give him a look at some point, too.

“Coach (Bryan) McClendon offered me as a WR but he let me know coach (Travaris) Robinson would also be in contact with me since they like me as an athlete.”

Kemp runs well for his size and has a promising frame to go along with his impressive burst and quickness. Offensively, Kemp only caught 16 passes last year but took them 514 yards, finding the endzone seven touchdowns. Defensively, the sure-tackling safety made 36 tackles, three INTs, and two fumble recoveries. He’s a big-play machine and more offers are likely on the way. He’s one of the fastest-rising 2025 prospects across Gwinnett County, and now he’s an in-state Bulldog target to know in the 2025 class.
