Former UGA football WR Mecole Hardman scored the game-winning TD in Super Bowl LVIII - during the Kansas City Chiefs‘ 25-22 overtime win against the San Fransisco 49ers.

"Mecole Hardman battled through adversity this year, and making that play - that's special," Kansas City QB Patrick Mahomes told CBS just after the game.

"It feels great. I blacked out when I caught the ball," Hardman told CBS while holding the Vince Lombardi Trophy from the podium with Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

This is Hardman's third Super Bowl win during his NFL career. The former Bulldog and Elbert County native was drafted by the Chiefs with the 56nd overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He started the 2023 season with the New York Jets, but escaped that disaster just in time to make another run with Kansas City.

Hardman ended Sunday night with three catches for 57 yards, and the all-important game-winning three-yard reception from Mahomes. Kansas City is the first NFL team to win back-to-back NFL titles in nearly 20 years.

Hardman has always been ready for primetime at the big game. Before Super Bowl LIV, Hardman arrived to the game as a Fighter Pilot

Hardman was a core part of Kirby Smart's push of UGA to the forefront of college football. Hardman and the Dawgs won the SEC Championship and Rose Bowl Game in 2017 before falling in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in Atlanta. Hardman ended his career at UGA with a huge 2018 - with 34 catches for 532 yards and seven TDs.
