ATHENS - 4-star defensive back Lewis Cine confirmed his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs on Wednesday on social media.

"They are building something special over there, and I want to be part of something special,” Cine told Dawg Post about his commitment to UGA.

Cine’s commitment to UGA was expected. Now, Georgia has 17 commitments in the 2019 recruiting cycle. Cine picked Georgia over Penn State, Michigan, Florida and in-state Texas. It moves the Bulldogs back towards the top of recruiting standings.

UGA has a consensus Top 3 class, but has room to move past both Alabama and Texas A&M in the weeks leading up to the first Signing Day in December. UGA finished with its first No. 1 class in school history last year. Doing the same this winter is not out of the question.

The Cedar Hill, Texas native emphasized that he thinks Georgia is heading towards elite status in the college football world. Cine said that he could meet all of his goals in Athens. The Bulldogs (6-0) are ranked No. 2 in both the AP and Coaches’ Poll this week.

"They showed me how I could play early in their defense,” Cine said.

The 6-2, 180-pounder out of Trinity Catholic (TX) admitted that there was pressure to stay home but, he knew he wanted to do it his own way and make a new path for himself.

"I really liked head Coach Kirby Smart and Coach Mel Tucker." Cine said. "Coach Smart has the same type of personality that I do. He can be cool and joke around at times, but he also goes about his way in a serious matter which I like. He can be all business at times where Coach Tucker is more low-key and laid back. They're both good coaches and can help me become the best player that I can be."

Cine visited Georgia multiple times this year including once in April, once in July and then took his official visit to Georgia in late September. He intends on majoring in international business. Cine said he knows he can be successful both on and off the field at Georgia, and that was a key to his recruitment.

Cine is the only defensive back currently committed to the Bulldogs. UGA now has ten 4-star recruits to go along with the four 5-star prospects committed to them.
