ATHENS - As we reported several days ago, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs hosted several top targets on campus this past weekend for Jr. Day.
Assistant coach Bryan McClendon had two of the state’s top receivers in town in Westlake standout Travis Smith Jr. and Milton star CJ Wiley.
Two guys who bring an impressive blend of size and ball skills, Smith Jr and Wiley both caught up with Dawg Post to break down their latest visit to Georgia.
Sources say Smith JR, who is ranked as the No. 153 overall prospect and the No. 19 prospect in the state, has always had Georgia towards the top of his list. After this weekend’s visit to Athens, it’s clear the Dawgs have made quite an impression on the pass-catching Atlanta native.
“My favorite part was definitely sitting with Kirby at the basketball game with my parents”, Smith Jr. said. “Kirby Smart builds a strong culture at UGA with how he recruits and I think his way of prioritizing me says a lot. He is big on family. Coach Bmac was with my everywhere I went and I have a strong relationship with him.”
As a prospect, Smith is a rangy, athletic wideout at 6-foot-4 195-pounds who caught 53 passes for 892 yards and 11 touchdowns last fall. Not only does he bring easy size, but his ball skills, body control, and big-play ability is what stands out the most. He’s one of the top receivers not only in Georgia, but across the South for the 2025 class.

Right now, the Georgia Bulldogs are 5.5-point underdogs to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Tuesday night according to FanDuel.
Then there’s CJ Wiley. Another big body who can haul in passes deep down the field, this four-star was a big-play machine for the 7A champion Milton Eagles last year. He’s coming off a big junior season and it’s clear he’s moving up Georgia’s board.
“One of my favorite parts of the visit was that Coach Smart and McClendon said we want you”, Wiley said. “We want you to be a part of UGA football. As coaches and recruiters, I believe they recognize talent. They make great efforts to reach out to guys and recruit them, and they coach hard to prepare their players for games. They have created a tough, winning environment at UGA. My latest experience in Athens was good. I spent good quality time with the coaches. I met some new people around me and saw some new things while learning more about the coaches' backgrounds.”
As a junior last fall, the 6-foot-4 200-pounder caught 68 passes last fall for 1,473 yards and 14 touchdowns. He’s a receiver to know about this off-season.
