ATHENS - It’s still very early for prospects in the 2025 class to start narrowing down their schools, but for one of the state’s top receivers, it’s not too early at all.

Savannah native Thomas Blackshear, the No. 35 ranked prospect in Georgia, named his top three schools this weekend, and to nobody’s surprise, the in-state Georgia Bulldogs made the cut.

The Dawgs joined Tennesee and Florida State in Blackshear’s final group.

A one time state champion for the Benedictine Cadets in 2022 as a sophomore, Blackshear now plays for Calvary Day and is coming off a solid  junior season where he caught 27 passes for 551 yards and five touchdowns in just 8 games.

The Savannah native has plenty of size and length at 6-foot-2 190-pounds and flashed Power 5 talent on a consistent basis last year. He was a dependable option in the passing game all year long and shows the ability to stretch the field vertically while also being a threat in the screen and short passing game. He’s quick, explosive, and has a knack for finding the end-zone.

Don’t let his ranking as the No. 46 receiver in the country fool you. This rising senior is a true playmaker, and while it’s still early in the process, Blackshear is down to his final three schools.

If the Bulldogs push hard, they could be tough to beat in the end.
