ATHENS - Kirby Smart had a days long talk with Kamari Lassiter about playing in the 90th Orange Bowl.

In the end, Lassiter decided he could not skip his final chance to play for the Bulldogs.

“Coach, I can't do it,” Lassiter said in a phone call to Kirby during bowl prep. “I want to be out there. I want to play with my guys.”

And he did, which resulted in the Bulldogs slamming No. 5 Florida State 63-3 in the most lopsided game in bowl history. On Sunday Lassiter declared for the NFL Draft - a move that was expected and dovetails with UGA football DB Javon Bullard’s annoucement of the same decision earlier in the day.

Lassiter was a big part of the Bulldogs’ back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022. Kirby said Lassiter got a “first-second round grade” for the 2024 NFL Draft.
