****** THIS WEEK’S QUICK REPORT ******
Now that spring football practice has started, we know a few things we didn't in February. UGA DB Deangelo Gibbs is not enrolled at UGA, but we anticipate his return this summer. UGA LB Natrez Patrick is back with the program after missing the 2018 Rose Bowl Game. Former UGA OL Sam Madden is no longer playing football at UGA, according to UGA coach Kirby Smart.
As of midnight April 3, 2018 Dawg Post projects that the Bulldogs have 88 players on scholarship heading into the summer. The disclaimer to that number is that the football office always has a firm grasp of scholarship numbers. The program must at 85 or lower by the time football camp starts in late summer. That means three Bulldogs who appear to be on scholarships right now won’t be with the program this fall. And that could happen for any number of different reasons.
Dawg Post projects that Georgia will sign 24 to 25 projects in the 2018 class… meaning there should still be additional attrition on the program that Kirby Smart and company may already be aware of or are simply planning for - football-ending injury, academic problems… anything.
****** WHAT TO WATCH FOR THIS WEEK ******
The Bulldogs are now set to return 17 seniors, 19 juniors, 18 sophomores, 8 redshirt freshmen and 26 true freshmen for the start of football camp in late summer.
The Bulldogs are not showing redshirt players on rosters given to the media. All members of the freshman class, including those who didn’t play in the fall of 2017, are listed as sophomores. That’s also the case for non-freshmen who didn’t play last season.
