ATHENS - It’s a proven fact by now.

Nobody is producing linebackers like the UGA football program. Thanks to defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann, the middle linebacker position at Georgia has become one of the best among college football.

If you play for Glenn Schumann, you’re likely going to play in the NFL. Just ask former Butkus Award winners, Roquan Smith and Nakobe Dean.

The Bulldogs have a loaded linebacker room right now, and more help is on the way when 5-star Justin Williams‍ comes to town.

The athletic, hard-hitting 6-foot-2 210-pound linebacker from Oak Ridge High School in Texas released his senior highlights over the weekend, and it’s easy to see why Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs wanted him so badly.

Williams is ranked as the No. 1 LB prospect in the country and the No. 9 overall prospects in the 2024 class.

Williams is the definition of a “do it all” linebacker. When you watch his recently updated senior highlights, it’s easy to see why he has 5-stars next to his name.

A fast-reacting defender with natural instincts and all the God-given talent you could ask for, Williams is a tremendously productive linebacker who made 108 tackles, 36 TFLs, 9.5 sacks, 7 TFLS, and 3 INTs.

This young man is built different when the pads come on. He stalks the ball-carrier like a lion. He attacks down-hill in the run game, closing gaps in a hurry between the tackles. He does a great job of tackling in space and knows how to deliver a massive hit on the ball-carrier. Not only that, but Williams is coming for the football. He’s a turnover machine like that. He’s coming for the football, and that’s a big reason why he’s one of the very best prospects across the country.

He’s a game-changing defender. Just like Roquan Smith. Just like Nakobe Dean.

There are a few young Bulldogs like CJ Allen and Raylen Wilson who have already made a freshman impact this season, but it’s clear more elite talent is on the way with Williams, four-star Chris Cole‍, and four-star Kristopher Jones‍.

Off the field, Williams is a young man who gets it. He’s smart and he’s driven. He knows how good he can be, and he works hard every day to reach his full potential down the road.

And the potential is sky high.

This is the guy Glenn Schumann wanted. And to be honest, that’s all you really need to know.

That’s because Williams can truly do it all. He can attack the quarterback from the inside or outside. He can chase down the ball-carrier on the edge. He sheds blocks.

He can cover, he can hit, and he runs like a deer for his size, running a 11.09 in the 100-meter as a sophomore. A multi-sport standout who also excels in the classroom, Williams has what it takes both mentally and physically to become the next great Georgia Bulldog linebacker down the road.

Williams really does “check all the boxes”, and his senior season highlights prove it.
