ATHENS - After taking down 12th ranked Missouri on Saturday to remain on top of the SEC East, UGA Football has another huge matchup this weekend.

Top-10 Ole Miss is heading to Athens along with ESPN’s College Gameday. As has been the case all season, Georgia will not be at full strength against the Rebels. Another key starter went down with an injury on Saturday against Missouri, when starting linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson fractured a bone in his arm. Kirby Smart confirmed this after the game.

Smart adressed the media again on Monday. Here are the latest injury updates from Smart on Dumas-Johnson and a couple of other key starters:

Jamon Dumas-Johnson

Dumas-Johnson exited the Missouri game in the second half after fracturing his forearm. Freshmen linebackers CJ Allen and Raylen Wilson both got significant snaps in his absence. Allen was actually already rotating with Dumas-Johnson in the first half before the injury.

“Still not sure how long it will be. He’s gonna try to find some innovative ways to get back and play but we won’t know the extent of that for the next couple of days,” Smart said.

Xavian Sorey did not play on Saturday for reasons Smart would not indulge, but he is expected to be back in the lineup on Saturday, and will likely play a lot of snaps.

Brock Bowers

Bowers is now three weeks removed from his ankle injury and surgery. Playing this week would be extremely soon, and that has not been publicly laid out on the table.

“He’s been great. He’s done everything we’ve asked…he ran on Friday,” Smart said.

Amarius Mims

Mims has not seen the field since suffering a similar injury against South Carolina and undergoing a similar surgery to Brock Bowers.

Xavier Truss has gotten most of the work at right tackle in his absense. If Mims is a full go this week, it will be interesting to see how Georgia resets the offensive line.

Here is what Smart had to say:

“I think Mims is much closer. He probably could have played Saturday if we needed him to,” Smart said. “Mims practiced all last week. He did a good job, wasn’t quite 100%.”
