ATHENS - UGA Football will have a huge spotlight on next week’s game as ESPN’s College Gameday is headed to town for the first time this season.

ESPN made the annoucement just before 8 PM EST Saturday night. The game, which as of 8 PM, has not been selected by a TV network, will likely be on CBS at 3:30. Otherwise the game will kick in primetime on ESPN.

The Bulldogs are coming off of a 30-21 win over No. 14 Missouri on Saturday. Georgia is 14-17 all time in so-called Gameday contests. The Bulldogs are 5-2 in those contests in Athens.

Georgia defeated the “No. 1” Vols 27-13 in Athens last season when Gameday was in town. No. 10 Ole Miss survived Texas A&M 38-35 in Oxford on Satruday. 

The College Football Playoff’s first rankings of the year were released Tuesday night with Ohio State at No. 1 and the Dawgs at No. 2. Georgia can win the SEC East with a vicroty over the Rebels on Saturday.
