UGA Football Fans Celebrate Whipping the Gators Again with Lights

Jacksonville, FL - The Georgia Bulldogs are one quarter away from leaving Jacksonville with another win over the hated Florida Gators.

Georgia fans celebrated by lighting up Jacksonville entering the 4th quarter with a 36-7 lead.

 

HALFTIME NOTES: 

Halftime Summary Of The Offense: Top-ranked Georgia finished with 250 yards of total offense on 36 plays and were 3-for-3 in the Red Zone to build a 26-7 edge over UF.

Junior QB Carson Beck went 10-for-16 for 139 yards with one TDs. 

*Down 7-0 after UF’s first possession, Georgia responded with an 11 play, 71-yard drive in 5:03 that ended in a 22-yard field goal. On the drive, Beck was 5-for-6 for 59 yards. 

*On its 2nd possession, Georgia went on top 10-7 following a five play, 66-yard drive in 1:14, capped by Ladd McConkey’s 41-yard TD catch from Beck.

*On the 3rd possession on a short field following UF getting stopped on a 4th down, Daijun Edwards scampered in from 20 yards for a TD. It was his seventh of the year and 18th of his career. The drive was just 31 yards on three plays in 1:30 for a 17-7 lead.

*Following a fumble recovery, Georgia went up 24-7, going 11 yards on four plays in 2:06 as Edwards ran in from two yards on a 4th-and-1.

*Special teams picked up a safety to cap a run of 26 unanswered points by the Bulldogs in the first half.

*Senior Daijun Edwards rushed nine times for 66 yards including a pair of TDs.  

*The Bulldogs had 110 rushing yards on 18 attempts for a 6.1 average.

*Junior WR Ladd McConkey had a season-high 74 yards on four catches. He had a 41-yard TD catch, his first of the year and 13th overall. It put Georgia up 10-7 with 1:23 left in the first quarter. He had his first kick return of the year, and it covered 15 yards.

 

*Defensive Review: UF tallied just 120 yards of offense on 30 plays After UF’s opening TD drive, the Gators final five possessions of the half resulted in 42 yards on 23 plays. 

*The defense collected four sacks in the first half and came in with 12 for the year.

*UF was 2-for-2 on third down conversions, going 66 yards on seven plays in 3:36 for a 7-0 lead on its opening possession and finished the half 2-for-7 in the first half.

*Junior Javon Bullard a team-high five tackles while junior Smael Mondon had four tackles including 2 TFL.

*Sophomore LB Jalon Walker forced a sack/fumble, only the second forced fumble by the Bulldogs this year. Junior Jamon Dumas-Johnson notched a sack to give him a team-leading 3.5  

Sophomore Marvin Jones, Jr. collected the first fumble recovery of the season for the Bulldogs. Redshirt sophomore Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins caused the fumble, just the third by the Bulldogs this season.

*Rushing Defense: UF had 22 rushing yards on 14 attempts for a 1.6 average.

 

*Blocked Punt/Safety: Georgia registered a safety on a blocked punt by freshman Joenel Aguero. It was the first blocked punt by the Bulldogs since Jalon Walker versus Kent State in 2022 that resulted in a safety. It was the first safety since that day against KSU too.

 

Woodring Tallies Six Points: Freshman PK Peyton Woodring hit a 22-yard field goal plus was 3-for-3 on PATs for six points.

He is now 13-for-16 in field goals on the year.

           

*Captains, Coin Toss and For Starters: Senior Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint (WR) plus juniors Sedrick Van Pran (C),  Javon Bullard (S) and  Jamon Dumas-Johnson (ILB) served as the game captains. Georgia won the toss and elected to defer the ball until the second half. Van Pran made his team-leading 38th career start. There were no first-time starters. Redshirt sophomore DL Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins saw his first action since being injured in the opener.

 

*Honoring #77 Devin Willock: Junior Sedrick Van Pran (C), normally #63, wore #77 today in honor of his late teammate Devin Willock. A different Bulldog offensive lineman will be wearing #77 each game this season.
