ATHENS - Kirby Smart and No. 1 UGA football travels to Nashville on Saturday for a national game on CBS. Here is what will happen this weekend for the Dawgs and all over college football... according to the Dawg Post crew.
According to FanDuel, the Bulldogs still have outstanding +250 odds to win the national championship for the third consecutive season.
Oregon (+3) at Washington | ABC |3:30 PM
Matt’s Pick: Oh boy. What a fun game this should be. I think Oregon’s defense will be key here. They’ve defended the pass well this year, and if they can make things tough for Penix Jr., they have enough peices on offense to pull off the upset. Give me Oregon (+3).
Ryan’s Pick: This is a game I am really excited about. I’m hoping to catch a good bit of the second half of what could be a real thriller. I like Washington (-3) at home here. I think that home crowd is going to show up, and I haven’t been secretive about how good I think Michael Penix Jr. has been.
It goes beyond Penix, though. He has some real weapons on the outside and I think the Huskies’ defense is good enough to slow down Bo Nix enough. The Ducks have a better defense, and that matters in these games, but either team can score with anyone in the country. In a game where I think the two teams are really close, I will take the squad with the better quarterback and home field advantage.
Dean’s Pick: I think Oregon gets this done. Super competative game. I’ve seen the Ducks get stressed a little bit on the road, so they have been there before. I love this matchup. This is one of the best rivalries in college football no one talks about. I think Oregon has the better overall team. They will have to dig it out on the road, and I expect them to. Ducks (+3) and the points.
Texas A&M (+3.5) at Tennessee | CBS |3:30 PM
Matt’s Pick: I keep hearing Neylan Stadium is an elite stadium. Tough place to play. If the Aggies go to Knoxville and win, I never want to hear a damn thing about Neyland Stadium ever again. Tennessee needs to win and I think they’ll cover at home. Vols (-3.5).
Ryan’s Pick: Oh, man. Another edition of “two teams I don’t trust.” I’m not totally gonna tip my hat to Jimbo and the Aggies, but that team is a little better than I thought it was. Tennessee is good enough to win this game, and the Neyland advantage is real. I’m going Vols (-3.5), but it won’t be easy.
Dean’s Pick: Tennessee. Not a great weekend of football in the SEC, so we are stuck with this loser of a game between two schools that have not gotten where they wanted to go this season. There is a lot on the line for the Vols in this one. Give me Tennessee (-3.5) to use the home crowd to make it too much for Watkinsville native Max Johnson and the Aggies.

Auburn (+11) at LSU | ESPN |7:00 PM
Matt’s Pick: That’s a lot of points, and LSU can’t stop anyone, but it’s Death Valley at night. Their offese is explosive and I think they’ll cover here. I’m taking LSU (-11).
Ryan’s Pick: LSU has been disappointing. How did the defense get to this point? The Tigers (of Louisiana) are better, and I am confident that in Death Valley at night, that LSU can outscore Auburn by more than 11 points. LSU (-11).
Dean’s Pick: Auburn. I will take the double-digit points and Auburn (+11), who I expect to play LSU tough down there in Death Vally.
USC (+2.5) at Notre Dame | NBC |7:30 PM
Matt’s Pick: I’ve put Notre Dame in the “fraud” category. Like the Atlanta Braves. Caleb Williams is a star and he’ll get his signature Heisman type of game in South Bend this weekend. Trojans (+2.5)
Ryan’s Pick: USC is going to lose at some point here soon. I don’t think it happens in South Bend. I’ve watched the Trojans enough to see that Caleb Williams is willing them to a lot of victories. Notre Dame’s chances of contending are over. That was a bad loss last week after two really emotional games. I am lower on Louisville than the general consensus.
Giving Williams and the Trojan offense points seals it for me here, so I have USC (+2.5) on the road. This Irish team has to feel at least a little defeated, right?
Dean’s Pick: Notre Dame is the better team - give me the Irish (-2.5) to win and cover. USC isn’t as good, and this is going to be a tough one on the road.
Miami (+3.5) at North Carolina | ABC |7:30 PM
Matt’s Pick: Miami doesn’t have a legitimate coaching staff. That locker room has to be at each other’s throats after that. No way they go to Chapel Hill at night and make this a game. Tar Heels (-3.5)
Ryan’s Pick: There is no other way to word to describe what happened to what Miami did last night other than embarrassing. I mean what in the world. I’d like to see Drake Maye really go off in the prime TV slot. UNC (-3.5).
Dean’s Pick: Give me Carolina (-3.5) to cover. I have nothing more to say on this one.
Missouri (+2.5) at Kentucky | SECN |7:30 PM
Matt’s Pick: Kentucky’s a different team at home. They get the Tigers at night and the Tigers have played terrible defense lately. If the ‘Cats can get thr ground game going, I like their chances to cover at home. ‘Cats (-2.5)
Ryan’s Pick: I’ll go with Kentucky (-2.5) in a bounce back game at home. I knew that the explosion for Georgia would happen. I just was not sure when. I want to point out that Kentucky is not as good as it was advertised to be heading into that game. I do think the Wildcats are capable of handling business this week
That was a tough loss for Missouri last week. The race for the final runner up in the SEC east is getting interesting.
Dean’s Pick: I will take Kentucky (-2.5) in the Commonwealth. I think they win, and therefoe I will take them to cover as well with the line being so low.
UCLA (+4) at Oregon State | FOX |8:00 PM
Matt’s Pick: I like UCLA here. I know it’s on the road, but the Bruins have played well when I’ve been watching. They can win this game, but I expect them to cover. Bruins (+4).
Ryan’s Pick: UCLA is on the rise right now and everybody is talking about the defense. I am not discrediting what the Bruins are doing, but I don’t love a freshman QB on the road at night. I’ll take the Beavers (-4), and continue sticking with the theme of taking home teams out west.
Dean’s Pick: Quick story. I had all of my picks loaded in, and then someone named either Ryan or Matt wiped them all out. So I can't remember who I picked here. I am stating that for the record - not as an excuse. I'm going to have the Beavs (-4) cover the line on this one. It can be tough to play in Corvallis.
Georgia (-31.5) at Vandy | CBS |12:00 PM
Matt’s Pick: Dawgs on top. I think theyll hit the 50-point mark, and if they do, they should cover easily. Another home game in Nashville and Georgia fans will leave happy. Georgia (-31.5).
Ryan’s Pick: I’m 0-6 picking the Georgia game this season. It has been daunting for me. Last week the Bulldogs reminded everybody what they are capable of. I think Georgia is easily capable of covering 31.5 points up in Nashville. It won’t surprise me if they don’t, but I’ll go with the Dawgs (-31.5).
Dean’s Pick: I'm pretty certain this is going to be a decisive and lopsided win for the Dawgs, but I will take Vandy (+31.5) and the pile of points they are getting on the road at home. Georgia has been playing better and better. The truth is that without two turnovers at Auburn, Georgia would likely be looked at as the clear favorite to win the national title.
Instead Michigan lurks around with the Dawgs needing a late Brock Bowers' touchdown to win that game. Still, Georgia has really gotten better over the first six games of the year - particularly the crispness of the offense. But the overall play of the Dawgs is better. Take Vandy and the points.
