ATHENS - UGA Football’s 51-13 blowout win over the No. 20 Kentucky Wildcats was the most-watched college football game on cable TV this weekend.
3.2 million viewers tuned in as the Dawgs scored on all drives in the first half against the Cats. The game is the seventh most-watched game on cable this season - behind Colorado-Colorado State, Texas-Alabama, Tennessee-Florida, Clemson-Duke, LSU-Ole Miss and State-Alabama.
The game between the Dawgs and Cats was the 5th most-watched in series history - trailing only games that were broadcast on CBS. From 2017 until 2023 UK and UGA have played all but one game (2020) on a TV channel that collects viewership numbers. Those six games have an average audience of 4.131 million viewers. The most-watched game ever between the two schools came in 2021 when both schools were undefeated, and the Dawgs won a 30-13 decision over No. 11 Kentucky in Athens.
Georgia faces Vanderbilt on CBS this Saturday in Nashville. After an off week, the Dawgs return to CBS to face the Gators in the annual Cocktail Party in Jacksonville. Games with Ole Miss, Missouri and at Tennessee appear candidates to be shown on CBS as well. CBS has a scheduled doubleheader the weekend of Georgia-Missouri. Alabama-LSU is that weekend as well.
