ATHENS - Former UGA Football QB Aaron Murray is set to call the Bulldogs’ first game of the season on Saturday.
The Tampa native was the Bulldogs’ starting signal caller from 2010-13. He ended his career as the all-time leader passer in SEC history. Murray was a 5-star prospect from Plant High School. After working with CBS over the last few years, Murray moved to Disney and ESPN in 2022. He has been with Sirus XM of late as well.
The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back national titles under coach Kirby Smart. Georgia opens the season against Tennessee-Martin on Saturday. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and SEC Network+ at 6 PM.
The day Murray picked Georgia over Florida set in motion one of the most successful careers in UGA history.
“I went with my gut feeling,” Murray told Dawg Post just after picking the Dawgs. “These last three weeks I just felt like I want to be a Bulldog. It is a dream come true. I want to play in that stadium. I want to play for those coaches. I want to put that uniform on. Everyone in Tampa has been asking me ‘Where are you going? Is it Florida? Is it Georgia?’ I just wanted to relax,” he said. “I didn’t talk with any of the coaches at Georgia or anybody. I wanted to take this week to think and make sure this was the right decision for myself. I wanted it to be about me and enjoy it.”
