ATHENS - Kirby Smart and UGA football are getting ready to kick off the season with this weekend’s game against Tennessee-Martin.
There have been a fair amount of injuries for Georgia during fall camp, which is something they are familiar with. Here is a look at the Dawgs’ injury situation as the season gets underway.
Ladd McConkey
“Ladd’s doing great. We had to shut him down for a little bit. He was dealing with a little bit of a back injury,” Smart said.
Dawg Post did not spot Ladd McConkey at practice during the open viewing period for the media last Wednesday, but Smart says that he is doing great and will practice on Monday.
Running Backs
With the news last Wednesday that Branson Robinson will be out for the season, Georgia’s running back room started to look really thin. It began to look even thinner with the reports that Daijun Edwards was dealing with an MCL injury.
On Monday, Kirby Smart said that Edwards is going to practice.
“Daijun was dealing with an MCL. He had one last year, but he’s actually doing great. He is going to practice today,” Smart said.
His partner in the backfield, Kendall Milton, has been dealing with a hamstring injury for most of fall camp. This is an injury that has shown up now and again for Milton. Milton has been present at practice and working out. Smart says that Milton is at about 80-90%.
“I’d feel a lot better if Daijun and Kendall were 100%, but we will see where they are today,” Smart said.
He also expressed confidence in Andrew Paul, Cash Jones and Roderick Robinson.

Defensive Backs
Smart said that David Daniel-Sisavahn, who is dealing with a turf toe injury, is fine.
Kamari Lassiter has been dealing with a foot injury and has been practicing with a non-contact jersey on. Smart said on Monday that the uniform has been a precaution.
“Kamari is fine. He’s been practicing for the last couple of weeks,” Smart said.
Lassiter is set to be Georgia’s top cornerback this season.
Others
Smart did not directly speak about Smael Mondon, but he was practicing last week. When Smart was asked about Daniel-Sisavahn, Mondon and Lassiter, he said that they were all doing just fine.
Lawson Luckie did undergo surgery to repair an ankle injury.
“Lawson ended up getting the tightrope surgery. We don't know when to expect him back, Smart said.
Smart added that Luckie is out of his boot already.
