UGA Football Coaches Earn Well-Deserved Contract Extensions

ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are back-to-back national champions, and a big reason why is because of the excellent work Smart’s assistants have done on the recruiting trail, the practice field, and on gamedays.

Now, several assistant coaches have earned new contract extensions according to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner Herald.

Co-defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann, one of the most respected assistants in college football, saw his contract extended another year through 2026. Schumann makes $1.9 million annually as the defensive play-caller for the top defense in college football.

Tight ends coach Todd Hartley, an ace recruiter who has put multiple Bulldog tight ends in the NFL recently, earned a two-year extension through June 30, 2026. Hartley makes a well-deserved $850,000 annually.

Running backs coach Dell McGee, another highly-respected coach in both the high school game and across college football, earned a one-year extension through June 30, 2025. Like Hartley, McGee $850,000.

Offensive line coach Stacy Searels, with one of the best units in college football heading into the 2023 season, received a one-year extension through June 30, 2025. He makes $750,000 annually. Searles currently holds six current offensive line commitments in the 2024 class.

Outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe, a young, energetic assistant who has also thrived recently on the recruiting trail, earned a one-year extension through June 30, 2025. He now makes $500,000 annually.
