ATHENS - In case you forgot, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs dominated the NFL Draft last April. In fact, the Bulldogs have dominated the last two NFL Drafts, taking on the role of “NFL University.”
In the 2022 Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted wide receiver George Pickens, who is coming off an impressive rookie season and bound for a gigantic second season this fall.
This past April, the Steelers took two more Bulldogs in left tackle Broderick Jones, and tight end Darnell Washington.
Jones is already getting a look at left tackle, and according to Pickens, Darnell Washington is also making a name for himself early in fall camp.
The big receiver told reporters last week, including Steelers beat reporter, Nick Farabaugh, that “maximum Darnell Washington” is the “greatest football TE of all time. Just off size, hands, and the stuff he can do."
With multiple Bulldogs on board, the Steelers’ NFL odds to win the AFC North stand at +470 according to FanDuel.

At 6-foot-7 265-pounds, Washington is one of the most physically gifted tight ends in the NFL. He’s been physical in the run game and has shown in camp he can be a weapon in the passing game as well.
Washington slipped all the way down to the 3rd round of the 2023 Draft, but it appears like he went to the perfect team. The Steelers are one of the toughest teams in the league that love to run the football. With Washington, and Jones son board, look for the Steelers to continue their dominance on the ground.
Like the Philadelphia Eagles, the Pittsburgh Steelers love drafting Georgia Bulldogs, and so far, Jones and Washington have been very impressive.
During his three years in Athens, Washington caught 45 passes for 774 yards and three touchdowns.
