ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs continue to reel in big-time running backs.

Thanks to assistant Dell McGee, the Bulldogs have now landed a commitment from the nation’s No. 2 running back prospect in four-star Nate Frazier‍.

An electric back with plenty of speed and burst, Frazier is a west-coast back out of Mater Dei (CA) who chose Georgia today over Oregon, Alabama, USC, among others.

Frazier took a visit to Athens the weekend of April 22nd and was back in the Classic City for a big unofficial visit the weekend of June 10th. Sources say that visit, where he spent a lot of time with current four-star commitment Chauncey Bowens‍, shot Georgia towards the top of his list.

Even with Georgia having two running backs on board, Frazier knew he wanted to play with the big boys of the SEC, and understands the way Georgia uses their backs. Sources say he liked the idea of sharing the load in the backfield, and he loved the idea of helping bring ANOTHER championship to the University of Georgia.

What will Frazier bring to Athens?

Well, it’s pretty simple. Size and speed.

At 5-foot-10 210-pounds, Frazier beings plenty of speed, acceleration, wiggle, change of direction, and balance to the running back position. A smooth runner, Frazier has great straight-line speed with the ability to make people miss down the field. He’s dangerous in the open field and has a chance to score every time he gets to the second level and beyond. He certainly doesn’t move like a back that weighs over 200-pounds.

Not only is he faster than most, he’s also a tough back who can power through tackles. He consistently gets yards after contact and can be tough to bring down by just one defender. He sees the field well and can out-run bad angles from defenders. He runs behind his pads and finds a way to fall forward for an extra couple of yards when being brought to the ground. He may be fast, but he’s also a true tackle-breaking back as well.

He’s also fresh. Sharing the load with elite 2025 RB target Jordon Davison‍, Frazier had a solid 2022 season where he carried the ball just 61 times, but rushed for 791 yards (11.4 ypc) and 9 touchdowns. When he touched the ball, good things happened. He’ll be sharing carries with Davison again this fall, so Frazier should be a healthy back with fresh legs when he gets to Georgia. There’s not a ton of tread on the tires, and that’s something McGee and the Georgia staff has to like.

Frazier now joins four-stars Dwight Phillips, JR‍ and Chauncey Bowens‍ on the 2024 commit list. He’s ranked as the No. 2 running back prospect, the No. 4 prospect in California, and the No. 45 overall prospect in the country.
