NASHVILLE - UGA Football will be without Texas A&M transfer and Bainbridge native Smoke Bouie, UGA football caoch Kirby Smart confirmed Tuesday at SEC Media Days.
Kirby said it was a “mutual decision” for Bouie to leave the program. His departure comes months after leaving Texas A&M to join the Dawgs.
“Smoke is no longer with our team,” Kirby said on Tuesday. “It has been that way for a while. He’s mutually agreed to part ways. We wish him nothing but the best. It is very disappointing that his stay was short, but it was a decision that was made by both parties. He’s from the same hometown I am from - and know a lot of people back there, but it was the decision that was made.”
Kirby didn’t expand on the reason Bouie is no longer with the program. He played in seven games for the Aggies in 2002 and earned the Aggie Defensive Top Newcomer Award at Texas A&M’s annual team banquet.
