Only five times this century has a tight end gone in the first ten picks of the NFL Draft.
The Napa native has been a force in Athens during his two-year stint at Georgia. He's racked up 119 catches for 1,824 yards with 20 touchdowns. Bowers has another 165 yards on 13 career rushes. He has scored four rushing touchdowns including a 75-yard score in 2022.
“He’s unique. But I think the position has evolved, right?” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said of Bowers in 2022. “He’s evolved with the position. As he was growing up and younger, he saw tight ends doing things in the NFL that the traditional tight end of the New York Giants, lining up in 13 personnel with three offensive lineman as tight ends, is no longer the tight end. It’s not what it was. He didn’t necessarily just play tight end in high school. If you’ve watched his high school tape, he was not really just a tight end. I think part of the sell in recruiting was, ‘You won’t be used just as a tight end.’
