ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have landed another 5-star prospect.

This time, it’s 5-star EDGE defender, Elyiss Williams‍.

A long, athletic pass rusher with an incredibly high ceiling, Williams is a 6-foot-7 235-pound athlete with loads of potential on both sides of the ball.

The in-state 5-star out of Charlton County (GA) is one of the state’s top prospects, but he happens to be in the 2025 class.

Williams told Dawg Post last year the Bulldogs are recruiting him to play both tight end and on the EDGE as a defender, but sources told Dawg Post on Saturday he’ll likely start out at tight end, giving Todd Hartley another outstanding tight end for the future.

Why did Williams choose Georgia?

“UGA has always been my favorite team since I was a kid growing”, Williams told Dawg Post. “Coach Smart is a good guy and a dynasty is forming at UGA so I have no problem being a part of it. The UGA staff was professional every time I went. They treated me like family.”

As a prospect, Williams is an explosive pass-rusher off the edge and one of the scariest defenders in all of South Georgia who can get to the quarterback with ease. Just a sophomore, Williams is a two-way star for Charlton County who can reel in passes on offense and fly past opposing offensive tackles on defense thanks to his raw athleticism and long frame. He’s lean, explosive, and too much for most tackles in the area to handle. Williams has a great motor, and when he gets to the ball-carrier, he’s going to leave a bruise. His film is jaw-dropping at times the way he can just manhandle offensive lineman the way he does.

He still needs to develop and work on his craft, but it’s easy to see the 5-star potential he has. Offensively. He’s a big target in the passing game with big, strong hands. He can win in jump-ball situations and can be a physical blocker out on the edge. There’s a lot to like as far as what he brings to the table, and he’ll be able to help Georgia in a number of different ways down the road. He’s a nationally-ranked prospect for a reason, and his best football is still to come.

Williams is considered the consensus No. 1 Edge defender and the No. 13 overall prospect in the country for the 2025 class.
