ATHENS - Former Georgia Bulldogs QB Jake Fromm threw in the Georgia Bulldogs’ new practice facility last week.
Fromm, who recently signed a two-year contract with the Washington Commanders, is trying to jumpstart his NFL career after stops in Buffalo and with the Giants. Fromm started as a true freshman at UGA after Jacob Eason’s injury in 2017.
His first start was the No. 15 Dawgs’ 20-19 win at No. 24 Notre Dame. Fromm was 16 of 29 for 141 yards with a touchdown to match his interception. Georgia went on to win the rest of its regular season games save a trip to No. 10 Auburn - a 40-17 blowout loss for the No. 1 Dawgs.
But the Dawgs avenged that loss with a triumphant 28-7 win over No. 2 Auburn a few weeks later at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. The win sent Georgia to the College Football Playoff for the first time. Georgia’s Rose Bowl Game win over Oklahoma in overtime set up a showdown with Nick Saban’s Alabama back at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Georgia lost on the final play of the game in overtime.
Fromm led the Bulldogs back to the SEC Championship twice, but failed to win either game. Georgia went on to win the Sugar Bowl in Fromm’s final game as a Bulldog on January 1, 2020.
Fromm concluded his UGA career with 42 starts, 8,224 yards, 78 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. Fromm had been committed to Saban and Alabama, but switched his commitment to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs shortly after Kirby’s hire in late 2015.
