ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs had plenty of major targets and commitments in town this weekend, and they extended an offer to one of the top tight end prospects in the state.

That would be four-star, Caleb Odum.

The big pass-catching tight end and basketball star out of Carrollton was a big reason why the Trojans made it all the way to the 7A state championship game last year.

The 6-foot-5 205-pounder was a reliable weapon all season long for freshman quarterback Julian Lewis, catching 64 passes for 1,121 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was one of the leading receivers in Georgia last year from the 2024 class, and now he has an offer from the Bulldogs.

“My favorite part of the visit this weekend was definitely getting to be able to continue building the relationships with all the coaches and just being able to sit in in meetings and listen to Kirby Smart”, Odom told Dawg Post. “UGA is just a special place because it’s UGA. The history and talent that’s been through here makes it special.”

Odom already had an impressive offer list that included Michigan, Florida, Auburn, South Carolina, Michigan State, among others. He had to wait for it, but the Georgia offer finally came in.

“I was just very thankful and it meant a lot too me”, Odom said about his new Georgia offer. “Coach Hartley seems like a very great person and a coach. He’s always fired up from what I saw and that means a lot.”

Hartley and the Bulldogs already have one tight end committed in the 2024 class 5-star Landen Thomas‍. At first, sources say he was the only tight end that had a spot in Georgia’s class. With Odom now having an offer, it’s clear that plan could be changing.

The Carrollton star is ranked in the 247 Composite as the No. 30 prospect in Georgia and the No. 205 prospect in the country for the 2024 class.
