ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are on a roll as far as producing defensive linemen go.

After seeing three of their defensive linemen from the 2021 team drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft last year, the Bulldogs will see another one go in the first round next month.

Of course, that will be star defensive tackle, Jalen Carter.

One of Georgia’s highest-ranked signees from their impressive 202 draft class, Carter has been a force to deal with for opposing linemen throughout his three-year Bulldog career.

According to FanDuel, Carter has +10,000 odds to be the first player taken overall in April’s 2023 NFL Draft.

Carter only went through position drills today in Athens and measured in at 323 pounds, up nine pounds from the NFL Combine according to NFL scout Jim Nagy.

A dominant force in the middle of Georgia’s defensive line, Carter was outstanding as a junior last fall, earning Associated Press & Coaches' All-SEC First Team honors. Carter made 32 tackles last fall along with an eye-opening and 31 QB hurries. He made three sacks and seven. more TFLs as well.

In his career, Carter has made 83 total tackles, 18.5 TFLs, and six sacks. He also forced two fumbles and blocked three kicks, with one of them being a game-changing play against Alabama in the 2022 CFP National Championship game.

Carter appeared to be an easy top-5 selection in the NFL Draft, but his ties to the deadly January crash in Athens has his stock slightly fading. Either way, he should hear his name called very early on the first night of the 2023 NFL Draft.
