ATHENS - Kirby Smart, Bryan McClendon and the Georgia Bulldogs are loading up on in-state receivers in the 2024 class.

They have two of the best in the peach state already on the commit list, and one of them is three-star Sacovie White‍.

Don’t let the three-star ranking fool you here. He may not be the biggest receiver in the state at just under 5-foot-10 and 175-pounds, but White is a quick, shifty wideout who knows how to run an excellent route. The Cass High School standout gets open on his own, shows great hands, and knows how to come down with an acrobatic catch in traffic.

Dawg Post caught up with White last weekend to talk about his commitment and why he’s not interested in giving any other schools a reason to flip him.

“When I give someone my word, I go by that”, White said. “That’s just being a man. For me, I wouldn’t want them to tell me I’m going to be the guy then see them recruit someone over me. My parents taught me if you’re committed to something, then be committed all the way. That’s why Georgia is the only place getting an official visit from me.”

How did Georgia say they were going to use White when he gets to Athens?

“They said they want to use me as a toy” White said. “I can play all over the field. Special teams my first year. I’m smaller than bigger receivers but I’m faster. I can play inside, outside, or even make plays out of the backfield.”

Who is White recruiting with him to Athens?

“Mike Matthews and KJ Bolden. Guys like that from my 7-on-7 team. Guys that I know can play at a place likee Georgia. Dylan Raiola. We talk a little bit. I told him even when you’re committed that nothing really chances. The staff is going to love on you hard and tell you the truth. At the end of the day you just have to work hard and earn your spot.”

What is his relationship like with QB commit Ryan Puglisi?

“We’re cool. I think we’re trying to set up an official visit together with Ny Carr and some of theee other players to spend time together and build that chemistry. We talk alot and have a grroup chat. We lugh and joke around so when we’re at Georgia we’vee already got something built together.”

What does White say is his biggest strength?

“My speed. I can run around the safety. I can be physical with cornerbacks. I might be 5-foot-9 but the weight room is there for a reason. Me being able to push a 190-pound DB off of mee and get open for the quarterback is really going to help me.”

As a prospect, White is one of the most electric receivers across the state. He was tough to slow down last season as a junior, catching 54 passes for 716 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Cass head coach Steve Gates told Dawg Post that White was doubled and tripled teamed every game all season long.

White also added one kickoff return for a touchdown, two punt return touchdowns, and one pick-six on defense. He’s one of the top overall athletes in North Georgia who also stars on the Cass basketball team.

As a receiver, White has tremendous body control, ball skills, speed, and playmaking ability. He plays the ball well in the air and knows how to come down with an acrobatic reception. He’s excellent after the catch and tough to run down by most defenders. He’s absolutely one of the best receivers not only in North Georgia, but across the 2024 class.
