ATHENS - Everyone knows that former Florida Gator and Ohio State Buckeye head coach Urban Meyer is not necessarily a big fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.
After Mark Richt’s Bulldogs danced their way to victory over Meyer’s Gators in 2007, many believe the now retired football coach and current Fox Sports broadcaster has always held a grudge against the Bulldog program.
Still, Meyer knows the landscape of college football, and knows that the Georgia Bulldogs are currently running the show. Meyer was on the “All Things Covered” podcast recently and was asked about the top jobs in college football.
Meyer said the Georgia job was one of the best.
“I’ve always said, Georgia, they’re doing it right now. Within three or four hours of campus, you stumble over players. Here’s the interesting thing about Georgia. I think it’s as good of high school coaching as there is in the country.”
He’s right. Everyone knew that the Georgia football program was a sleeping giant. Mark Richt came close to waking up the giant, but Kirby Smart came in and did the job. Smart took the resources he had, and turning Georgia football into the monster everyone knew it could be.
The Georgia program has it all. Program history. Elite facilities. A passionate fanbase. No in-state competition. A rich recruiting landscape. Those are just a reasons why the Georgia is without a doubt one of the very best jobs in college football.
Meyer added more on which college football jobs reign supreme in the sport.

“As far as jobs go, I’d say Georgia and Ohio State. I’d say the Gators/Florida State. I think they’re really similar jobs because of the talent level. I’d say LSU. We didn’t really recruit Louisiana when I was at Florida. All the good players were going to LSU. I was upset with my recruiting guy once who insisted wee fly to Louisiana, and I had to tell him we weren’t getting that kid.”

Of course, the Alabama job is up there as one of the best. The LSU job is obviously better than the Notre Dame job. The Texas job appears to be a good one, but apparently, it’s hard to build a stable program in Austin.
The Auburn job is tough. The South Carolina job is tough.
The Oklahoma job is a good one, but as we’ve seen, it’s not as good as the USC job.
Remember when NOBODY wanted the Tennessee job a few years back? What a roller-coaster that was.
Urban Meyer’s time as a college coach may have come and gone. Still, he knows which program is on top. He may not like it, but he gets it. It’s the Georgia Bulldogs, and the former Florida coach is starting to admit it more and more.
