ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs already have one of the top prospects in California on the commit list in high four-star safety, Peyton Woodyard‍.

Now, the Bulldogs have a chance to land one of the top receivers in California as they’ll be hosting four-star playmaker, Aaron Butler‍ on an official visit the weekend of April 14th.

An impressive two-way player out of Calabasas High School, Butler stands at 6-foot-1 180-pounds and has the potential to play on either side of the ball at the next level. The Bulldogs are recruiting Butler to play wide receiver, and that’s where he dominated last fall as a junior.

The No. 8 prospect in California according to the 247 Composite Rankings, Butler caught 38 passes for 830 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.

As a prospect, Butler has good size and shows explosiveness with the ball in his hands. A weapon on special teams as a returner as well, Butler has a natural feel for the game with burst and big-time speed. An easy vertical threat with reliable hands, he’s a real weapon in the passing game and terrific after the catch.

Bryan McClendon already has two wide receiver commitments on board in the 2024 class, and both are in-state prospects in Sacovie White‍ (Cass) and Ny Carr‍ (Colquitt County).

Butler confirmed to Dawg Post that he’s high on the Georgia program after taking a visit to Athens in late January last month. A successful official visit in April could put the Bulldogs in the driver’s seat for one of the top receivers on the West Coast.

Other 2024 WR targets to know include:

5-star Jeremiah Smith‍ (Ohio State commit)

5-star Mike Matthews‍ (Parkview, GA)

4-star Zion Ragins‍ (Jones County, GA)

As for Butler, he’s ranked in the 247 Composite as the No. 7 ATH and the No. 75 overall prospect in the country for the 2024 class.
