ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs may be taking some deserved time off, but of course, recruiting never really stops.

The “QUIET PERIOD” starts on March 1st, meaning it is “permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the member institution’s campus. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts or evaluations may be made during the quiet period.”

That means some of the nation’s top prospects will be heading to Athens for unofficial visits. Dawg Post was told this week that one of the nation’s top 2025 quarterbacks, Ryan Montgomery out of Findlay (OH), will be making his way back to Athens on April 4th

The big 6-foot-3 200-pounder was offered by Todd Monken and the Bulldogs in late April of 2022. Montgomery and his family, including Ohio State OL signee Luke Montgomery, took a visit to Athens in early October to watch the Bulldogs beat down Auburn, 42-10 inside Sanford Stadium.

The Bulldogs are still putting together their QB class in the 2024 cycle, and it should be the best QB class in the country as they plan on signing two of the nation’s best in the class. Todd Monken already has a commitment from impressive four-star Ryan Puglisi‍ and are towards the top for the top overall prospect in the country in 5-star gunslinger, Dylan Raiola‍.

In 2025, it looks like Antwann Hill Jr (Houston County, GA) and Mongomery are Georgia’s top two targets.

The in-state Buckeyes could be tough to beat in the end, especially with his older brother already in the program, but sources say if Todd Monken stays at Georgia, the Bulldogs should be in the in the mix throughout his recruitment.

“Todd (Monken) is fantastic”, one close source told Dawg Post. “He’s been one of Ryan’s top recruiters.”

As a prospect, Mongomery’s mobility and ability to buy time in the pocket stands out immediately. He has great pocket presence and footwork in the pocket, allowing him to buy time and wait for someone to get open down the field. When he finds an open man, he has enough arm strength to push the ball vertically down the field. He has easy D1-caliber arm talent and holds offers from some of the nation’s top programs. He’s put together physically and brings some athleticism to the position along with his talented arm. He’s tough, consistently accurate, and one Georgia fans should keep a close eye on over the next 12 months.
