ATHENS - Are the Georgia Bulldogs trending in a big way for the No. 1 CB prospect in the 2024 class?

Dawg Post sure thinks so.

After signing a tremendous defensive back class in 2023 with two top cornerbacks in AJ Harris‍ and Chris Peal‍, sources say DBs coach Fran Brown will load up in a big way in 2024. Of course, it doesn’t get any bigger than five-star CB Ellis Robinson IV‍.

A‍ longtime Georgia target, sources say Kirby Smart and his staff have been trending with Robinson throughout the early part of his recruitment. The 6-foot-0 175-pounder started his career at Iona Prep (NY) where he picked off eight passes as a sophomore in 2021. Last year he played down in Florida at IMG Academy.

Robinson was in Athens over the weekend to take in Georgia’s championship parade and spoke with Dawg Post about his visit.

“I had a great visit”, Robinson said. “I enjoyed the parade & ceremony. Always good to talk to coach Smart, coach Muschamp & coach Brown. It felt like home as usual.”

“The coaches are great from top to bottom”, Robinson added. “I think they recruit well. There’s a lot of talent in the building and they keep adding more. A great coaching staff plus talent equals success. UGA just checks all the boxes for me and my family. I believe coach Fran, coach Muschamp & coach Smart can develop me and get me ready for the next level.

“Coach Kirby, coach Fran and coach Muschamp all feel the same about me”, Robinson continued. “I’m their guy and they feel I can come in and contribute early. I feel coach Kirby’s history working with the DB’s can help me develop and be ready for the next level.”

As a player, Robinson has natural cover skills and tremendous hands. He runs well, has a great motor, and does a great job of making a play on the ball. He’s fundamentally sound, shows great footwork, and brings a physical presence. He’s a sure tackler, but his ability to lock down receivers in coverage make him one of the top recruits across the country for the 2024 class.

The Bulldogs have the lead in his recruitment, but Robinson added that he’s in no rush to make a decision just yet.

He’s ranked as the No. 1 CB prospect, the No. 6 prospect in Florida and the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2024 class according to the 247 Composite Rankings.
