ATHENS - As good as the Georgia Bulldogs were in 2022, it’s clear the future is incredibly bright.

Rarely do you see true freshmen make big plays in a national championship game, but we saw plenty of that on Monday night.

We’ve seen true freshmen defenders Malaki Starks and Mykel Williams make plays consistently all season long, but against TCU, the entire college football world got a glimpse of the next group of superstar Bulldogs.

In Georgia’s championship win, freshman Bulldogs were all over the field.

Bear Alexander, a defensive lineman who could have a MAJOR season in 2023, made two tackles, two TFLs and one sack.

Jalon Walker, a linebacker, could be the next star under co-defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann. The big, physical freshman had one tackle, one TFL, one sack and one pass deflection. He also got into the backfield with ease, showing his ability to get after the quarterback.

Malaki Starks started the game and made one tackle. A freshman All-American, Starks could be one of the top defensive backs in college football next season.

Mykel Williams made an impact with two tackles, one TFL and one sack. It’s cleear he has an NFL future after an outstanding freshman season.

Running back Branson Robinson rushed 7 times for 42 yards and two touchdowns. He should see plenty of carries next fall.

Oscar Delp saw plenty of action at tight end and will see the field often as a sophomore.

Wide receiver Dillon Bell caught one pass for 11 yards.

Towards the end of the game, it was a freshman party in Los Angeles.

It’s clear Georgia’s 2022 class was special. It was full of impact players who are bound for gigantic sophomore seasons in 2023. Kirby Smart couldn’t wait to get some of his younger players on the field, and he knows it’s only going to help them next season.

When we look back on Georgia’s 2022 class, there’s a good chance it could end up as one of Kirby’s best. We saw a lot of them play against TCU, and we’re going to see a lot more of that class in 2023.
