LOS ANGELESGeorgia Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart are getting ready to take on Sonny Dykes and the TCU Horned Frogs in the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship Game in Los Angeles. And ESPN’s opinionated hot take star said the Dawgs are going to have to play better to win Monday night.

“Georgia did come back,” ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said in response to the notion that Georgia’s defense was horrible. “Once you are in a deficit your defense has to make stops in order for your offense to come back. You don't just score and get the ball back.”

The Bulldogs twice rallied from down 14 points to take home a 42-41 win over No. 4 Ohio State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Saturday. The win sets up Georgia’s second trip to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

The Dawg will take on No. 3 TCU in Los Angeles on Monday night. The game will be broadcast by ESPN at 7:30 PM EST. The Bulldogs are listed as 12.5-point favorites - the most for any team since the birth of the BCS during the 1997 season.

“Georgia needs to play better if they are going to beat TCU,” Smith said. “TCU is real - they can win the national championship. Georgia is going to have to bring their A game to defend their crown.”

Georgia is scheduled to land in Los Angeles early afternoon pacific time Friday - about 6:10 PM EST.
