Former 5-star Georgia Bulldog Target Jordan Burch Enters Transfer Portal

ATHENS - Another former 5-star prospect has entered the transfer portal.
This time it’s NOT someone jumping ship from Texas A&M.
It’s Jordan Burch, a former Columbia, South Carolina native who has decided that he’s had enough of the Gamecocks.
A multi-year starter for South Carolina, Burch was a “must-have” prospect for the Gamecocks in the 2020 class from their own backyard. The big 6-foot-5 275-pounder out of the Hammond School on Columbia chose Will Muschamp and Gamecocks over Georgia during his recruitment, and is coming off his best season at South Carolina as a junior, making 60 total tackles and 3.5 sacks.
It took him a little while to get it going at Carolina, registering only one sack in his first two years, but if you watched him play this past fall, he did flash his 5-star ability from time to time.
He was very productive this year on the defensive line and started playing with more and more confidence as the season went along.
The Bulldogs didn’t use the transfer portal last year, but they’ve been very active recently, adding two of the top receivers out of the portal in Rara Thomas and Dominic Lovett.

The Bulldogs are losing senior defensive linemen Tramel Walthour along with junior Jalen Carter, who is expected to announce his intentions to enter the 2023 NFL Draft at some point next week.
Kirby Smart and Tray Scott have plenty of young talent already on the roster, but as we all know, if you want to win a championship, you have to dominate in the trenches. Burch may not be an elite defensive lineman just yet, but the potential is still there for him to make an immediate impact next year.
Could he be suiting up for the Bulldogs? They came in 2nd in his recruitment, and that might help them land him the second time around. He’s up for grabs at the moment, so look for the Bulldogs to take a swing at the impressive defensive lineman.
He didn’t win much at Carolina, so if he’s looking for a place where he can compete for championships and be developed at the same time, you have to like Georgia’s chances if they pursue him in a big way.
He’s one to keep a close eye on in the coming weeks. Out of high school, Burch was ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect in the country for the 2020 class.
