ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs had a MASSIVE first day of the Early Signing Period, adding three new commitments and signing 24 prospects throughout the day.
The Bulldogs signed multiple five-star prospects on Wednesday, with one of them being defensive back, AJ Harris.
A Phenix City, Alabama native out of Central High School, Harris considers himself a Georgia native and grew up watching the Bulldogs.
A technically sound cornerback with length, athleticism, and natural ball skills, Harris committed to the Bulldogs back on June 16th and never looked back. He was an active recruiter for the Bulldogs all season long and became close friends with 5-star EDGE Samuel M'Pemba, who could go on to commit to Georgia in early December.

There’s a lot to like about Harris’ game, and if you saw him play as a senior this past fall, it’s hard not to get excited about his future in Athens. The 6-foot-1 180-pounder made 52 tackles as a senior, making four INTS and forcing two fumbles along the way. What’s even more impressive is the fact that he only gave up two receptions on the season and didn’t allow a single touchdown all year long.
You read that right.
Harris PICKED OFF TWICE AS MANNY PASSES AS RECEPTIONS GIVEN UP.
That’s ELITE cornerback play, and someone that Smart and the defensive staff is really excited about.
“I love his competitiveness” Kirby Smart said about Harris on Wednesday. “I mean, he loves football. Number one trait you look for now is how much do you love football, how much can you process information, because after your height, weight, jump, test everybody, it becomes what knowledge can you handle in between your ears? I think he is going to excel at that. He takes notes. He is very bright, and he wants it. He is hungry. That's a part that I can't coach into him. “
AJ Harris has always been a gamer. He cared more about football than the recruiting process. Not only does he have the physical traits needed to play in Georgia’s secondary, but he has the correct mental mindset as well. As good as he is already, Harris is always looking to get better.
Harris was meant to be a Georgia Bulldog from the very beginning. He has the talent, work ethic, and drive to be the very best he can be.
He checks all the boxes from a physical and mental standpoint, meaning there’s a great chance he’s going to have a very, very successful career at Georgia over the next several years.
