ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs don’t use the transfer portal often, but when they do, they’re looking to bring in big-time athletes who can make an instant impact.
That could be the case with former Texas A&M defensive back, Deyon Bouie, who committed to Georgia today out of the transfer portal.
If you follow Georgia recruiting, you remember Bouie’s name quite well. A former Georgia commitment out of Bainbridge, Georgia, Bouie was an outstanding two-way player for the Bearcats in high school, making play after play at both receiver and defensive back.
Sources say Georgia tried to flip Bouie away from the Texas A&M around Early Signing Day last year, but the South Georgia playmaker decided to stick with his commitment and sign with the Aggies.

We reported last year that A&M’s historic class would eventually implode, and after an embarrassing 5-7 season this fall, that’s exactly what we’re seeing.
NIL can’t buy victories, and we’ve seen Aggies jump ship left and right this month.
Now, Bouie is heading back to the peach state with hopes of cracking the rotation in the secondary. A versatile defender and impressive athlete, Bouie played lots of cornerback in high school, but he’ll likely start out at safety or the STAR position in Athens.
The Bulldogs have plenty of young talent in the secondary, but in a defense that primarily uses five defensive backs on the field, there’s always room for more players like Bouie who bring athleticism and ball skills to the secondary.
At safety, Malaki Starks will have one of the starting spots locked down heading into next season. Chris Smith will be gone, but the Bulldogs will still have Dan Jackson around, David Daniel-Sisavanh, Jacorey Thomas, and a handful of freshmen ready to step in and make an impact as well.
At the STAR position, Javon Bullard has taken command, but it’s a place where Bouie can find the field in a reserve role.
Bouie appeared in three games last fall as a freshman for the Aggies, making four total tackles and deflecting one pass. As a prospect, thee South Georgia defender was ranked as the No.7 safety prospect, the No. 7 prospect in Georgia, and the No. 68 overall prospect in the 2022 class.
