ATHENS - Fresh off of handling Georgia Tech to secure back-to-back undefeated regular seasons, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs look toward an SEC Championship against Brian Kelly and the 9-3 LSU Tigers

Smart and Kelly addressed the media in the initial coach’s teleconference on Sunday evening, and LSU’s freshman linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. was a focus. Perkins is a great player, but one player cannot beat a team, and one player certainly cannot beat these Georgia Bulldogs.

“They (LSU) do a tremendous job defensively,” Smart said.

Smart is the expert, but do they? Is the Tigers’ defense good? Are they good enough to hold off the Dawgs?

Saturday was a bad loss for LSU. That is putting it lightly. Texas A&M is just not a good football team and had to claw their way to 5-7.

The Aggies ran for 274 yards and two touchdowns on LSU. The Tigers are about to face a Georgia team that seems to have figured out the ground game after struggling in that area early in the season.

The Dawgs are averaging 230 rushing yards per-game over the last three contests. Kenny McIntosh is running as hard as he ever has in silver britches, Daijun Edwards is tough to take down and Kendall Milton looks healthy for the first time all season. That is bad news for LSU.

Anthony Richardson and the Gators’ backfield rushed for over 200 yards against the Tigers, and Tennessee went for 263 yards on the ground en route to a beating in Baton Rouge.

When it has mattered most, the LSU defense has not been stout, let alone tremendous.

A perfect season is on the line for Georgia. After losing in College Station, LSU is very (extremely) likely out of the College Football Playoff race, even if they take care of business in this game.

One of the most impressive offensive performances of the college football season as displayed by the Dawgs in Mercedes-Benz stadium when they stormed through Oregon. Georgia’s offense looked unstoppable in the season-opener, and they have shown that was not necessarily a fluke.

When it really matters, and it does, even with a slim chance to make the playoff, will LSU’s defense be able to hold off Georgia’s dynamic offense? It is not impossible, but they have not shown that all season. The Dawgs have not exactly looked like that offensive juggernaut in all of their games, but there is more on the line for Kirby and company.
