ATHENS - One of Georgia’s top 2023 targets on defense is ready to make his commitment.

That would be 5-star Samuel M'Pemba‍, who has announced that he will be making his commitment on December 4th, one day after Georgia plays LSU for the 2022 SEC Championship.

If you’ve been reading Dawg Post for the last several months, you know where we stand here. While sources say the elite pass-rusher out of IMG Academy (FL) was trending towards Miami this summer, sources say the Bulldogs have been the team to beat behind the scenes for several months now.

The long, athletic 6-foot-4 240-pounder defender has seen Georgia play in-person multiple times this year, and even caught Georgia’s game on the road against Missouri. A Missouri native himself, M’Pemba is no stranger to Athens and was in town twice in the last several weeks. The 5-star was in Athens to watch Georgia take down Auburn and took his official visit to Georgia earlier this month when the Bulldogs took down the Tennessee Volunteers.

The big-time Bulldog target is down to a final four that includes Georgia, Miami, Florida, and Tennessee. Right now, Dawg Post believes Georgia has a comfortable lead on the Miami Hurricanes with Florida and Tennessee rounding out his final four.

As a player, M’Pemba’s length and athleticism really stand out. He has a long frame and a quick first step that allow him to get into the backfield with ease. He’s strong in the upper body and shows fllexibility when getting around opposing offensive tackles. He plays with balance, leverage, and has a great motor when getting after the quarterback.

He certainly stands out from a physical standpoint and has the raw tools necessary to turn into an impact pass rusher at the next level sooner than later.

There’s a reason he’s a 5-star prospect and there’s a reason he’s wanted by Kirby Smart and the rest of the staff. He’s a promising prospect with sky-high potential, but there’s still plenty of development to do. For a championship program like Georgia, you have to add as many elite pass-rushers as you can, and M’Pemba is someone who can get after the quarterback.

According to the 247 Composite Rankings, M’Pemba is ranked as the No. 4 EDGE defender, the No. 8 player in Florida, and the No. 29 overall prospect
