ATHENS - Former Georgia Bulldogs coach Mark Richt wants an early Christmas present from Florida State Seminoles coach Mike Norvell

“Will you do me a favor and kick the Gators’ ass?” Richt asked Norvell in person on the ACC Network after the surging Noles dismissed Syracuse 38-3 on the road.

Richt had decades worth of fights with the Gators over the years - most notably when he was the coach at Georgia. Some of his biggest wins - including the ones in 2007 and 2012 - came against the Dawgs’ rival.

But it goes even deeper for Richt - who explained fully what he wanted to see the day after Thanksgiving.

“Coach, I played at Miami. I coached at Florida State. I coached at Georgia, and I coached at Miami,” Richt said. “I know you guys don’t play them this week but I know who you play at the end of the season. Will you do me a favor and kick the Gators’ ass?”

Florida coach Billy Napier and the Gators are coming off a 38-6 whipping of the Gamecocks in the Swamp. The Gators dominated the Cocks on the ground with an embarrassing 374 yards rushing.

Richt’s two former stops as coach, Georgia and Miami, are going in different directions this fall. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 1 and just won the SEC East for the fifth time in six years. Miami whipped Georgia Tech over the weekend, but are 5-5 going into the final two games of the season - Clemson and Pitt.

Richt was the head coach at Georgia from 2001-2015. He led the Bulldogs to a bowl game each season as coach - winning the SEC title in 2002 and 2005. Richt also captured the Sugar Bowl after the 2002 and 2007 seasons.

Florida State and the Gators will play Friday, November 25 at 7:30. The game will be broadcast by ABC.
