ATHENS - If you follow Georgia Bulldog recruiting, you know all about 5-star athlete, Sammy Brown.

The 5-star linebacker/running back out of Jefferson is an elite athlete and ranked by Dawg Post as the No. 1 player in the state of Georgia for the 2024 class. He’s only a junior, but you can make the case that Brown is easily one of the top players across the South right now.

A strong, powerful prospect with plenty of speed at 6-foot-2 225-pounds, Brown has offers from major prospects across the country, including one from Glenn Schumann and the Bulldogs.

Of course, Schumann already has one 2024 linebacker on board in four-star Demarcus Riddick‍, and has three of the nation’s best committed in the 2023 class.

Spots are filling up quickly, so Brown, who lives within an hour from Athens, is a prospect to keep a close eye on. He’s been to Athens plenty over the last few years and was back in town this past weekend to watch Georgia take down Tennessee.

He’s a big fan of linebackers coach and defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann, and the Bulldog defense certainly had Brown’s attention on Saturday.

“I thought that Georgia’s entire defense played fast and physical”, Brown told Dawg Post. “They got 11 hats to the ball. Props to coach Schumann and the whole defense staff for what they were able to put together this week. That Georgia defense was ready for everything that UT threw at them.”

As a player, all Sammy Brown does is make plays. He’s a weight room warrior, understands the game, and knows how to run. He’s dominated throughout his career and having a phenomenal season as a junior this fall, rushing 115 times for 1,348 yards (8.7 ypc) and 20 touchdowns on offense. He’s also made 82 tackles on defense with one sack and one INT. He’s as productive as it gets on both sides of the ball, making him one of the top two-way players across Georgia.

Brown is ranked in the 247 Composite Rankings as the No. 1 LB prospect, the No. 3 prospect in Georgia, and the No. 7 overall prospect in the country in the 2024 class.
