ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs LB Nolan Smith could be lost for the season with a pectoral muscle injury.
That’s according to a report from Matt Zenitz of On3.com who cited sources “feared (Smith) to be lost for the rest of the season”.
As of Tuesday morning UGA has not confirmed the accuracy of the report, but on Monday Georgia coach Kirby Smart said he didn’t know if Smith would be able to play against the No. 2 Vols.
“His availability has not been determined. It does not look good for availability this week,” Kirby said. “It's a pec muscle. It's one of those deals we're doing an MRI on. We're still getting some opinions on it. But he's probably doubtful for this week.”

Georgia’s outside linebackers filled in for Smith, who was out in the second half of the 42-20 win over the Gators in Jacksonville on Saturday. Kirby said he was happy with what he saw.
“Well, Robert (Beal) played. He played a little more number of snaps once Nolan was injured. Chaz (Chambliss) did a nice job coming in. It was great to get him back,” Kirby said. “Didn't know that he would have to play that much in that role. His hamstring has still been bothering him. It bothered him a little bit the other night after the game. So it's one of those that we're going to see how he does today and moves around. Looking to get Marvin, MJ, all those guys going. So nobody really played more because it was just Chaz and Robert, really.”
