ATHENS - ESPN’s Paul Finebaum said earlier this week that Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs will “be better at the end when it really matters” when comparing the No. 1 Dawgs to Ohio State

Finebaum gives the Buckeyes a slight edge over the Dawgs right now heading into the Buckeye’s critical test at Penn State this weekend.

“It starts at QB with CJ Stroud,” Finebaum said. “Ohio State seems more complete across the board. They have so many more weapons offensively, and I think that has really helped them dominate every team on the schedule except Notre Dame early when they struggled in the first half.”

Georgia’s biggest rival, the Gators, is all that stands in the way of a colossal matchup between the No. 1 Dawgs and No. 3 Tennessee Vols. CBS will broadcast that game at 3:30 from Athens

Finebaum went on to acknowledge the major tests both Georgia and Ohio State face at or near the end of their seasons.

“Ohio State has the back end of the schedule waiting for them, and that's Michigan,” he said. “Same thing for Georgia, and that's Tennessee.”

All four teams make up what is this week’s top four teams in the AP Poll. Georgia has been the No. 1 team in the nation for about half the season. Alabama is the only other team to have held the top spot so far this year.

“I give Ohio State a slight edge,” Finebaum said when comparing UGA and Ohio State this week. “The one thing I will say about Georgia is they have some players coming back. They will be better at the end when it really matters.”

Kirby said earlier this week that both players were trying to get back as fast as possible.

”Jalen and AD (Mitchell) were not really practicing with us last week. We’re hopeful to get those guys back, but we still don’t know,” Kirby said Monday. “AD has a high ankle sprain, and with that it’s hard to pinpoint a measurement. He’s battling to come back, and he’s doing everything we’ve asked. With Jalen it’s the MCL. The severity of that just depends on conditioning level. He hasn’t been 100% since the first play of the season.”
