Santa Clara, CA - It was a big day for former Georgia Bulldog receiver Mecole Hardman on Sunday as the 2017 SEC Champion had arguably his best career NFL game, leading the now 5-2 Kansas City Chiefs to a big 44-23 win over the “San Francisco” 49ers, who don’t actually play in San Francisco.

That’s another rant for another time.

With Tyreek Hill now scoring touchdowns for the Miami Dolphins, this was a big season for Hardman to show that he can be the go-to deep threat for superstar QB Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

While it hasn’t exactly been the season Hardman was hoping for so far, he showed off his speed and explosiveness on Sunday, finding the end-zone three times during the big victory.

The former 5-star prospect out of Elbert County (GA) scored on an 8-yard touchdown reception in the 1st quarter that put Kansas City on the board. Down 13-7 in the 2nd quarter, Hardman scored his second touchdown of the game on a 25-yard run, zig-zagging his way through the 49ers defense and giving the Chiefs a 14-13 then.

Of course, Hardman wasn’t done just yet. With Kansas City up 28-23 early in the 4th quarter, Hardman came up big with a 3-yard touchdown run that extended the lead.

On the day, Hardman has two rushes for 28 yards and two touchdowns. He was targeted four times in the passing game and caught all four passes for 32 yards and one touchdown. On the season, Hardman has caught 19 passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns to go along with his four carries for 31 yards and two touchdowns, scoring both this past Sunday.

Hardman was a terrific weapon for the Bulldogs during his time in Athens, helping Georgia win the 2017 SEC Championship. On special teams, Hardman fielded 39 punts for 592 yards and one more touchdown.

After a terrific three-year career in Athens, Hardman was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs with the 56th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
