ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are on a much-needed off week this weekend, but they’ve got two big games coming up in Florida and Tennessee over the next few weeks.

While the Florida Gators have no idea what they’re doing, the Tennessee Volunteers are the big story in college football right now after taking down the Crimson Tide in Knoxville last weekend. The Vols are ranked No. 3 and will head to Athens the first weekend of November for one of the biggest college football games of the season.

Of course, there will be plenty of elite prospects in attendance to watch Georgia take on Tennessee. One major prospect who will be in town is 5-star safety, Peyton Woodyard‍.

The outstanding safety out of St. John Bosco (CA) is no stranger to Athens and told Dawg Post he’s excited to take in a game inside Sanford Stadium. He’s held an offer from the Bulldogs since the summer of 2021 and confirmed that he’s kept in close contact with the Georgia staff this fall.

“I am in contact with the coaching staff on a weekly basis and I have been able to maintain a strong relationship with Coach Fran as well as Coach Metcalf”, Woodyard told Dawg Post. “I also communicate with Coach Muschamp on a weekly basis as well. My relationship with Coach Fran has been ongoing and consistent throughout my recruitment to Georgia.”

What makes Georgia special for the elite defender?

“Georgia is special because they have created an environment that will allow me to not only excel on the football field but they also ensure that their student athletes are prepared to thrive off the field as well. There are internship opportunities there and they have a great business program. The facilities are top notch and the coaching staff is amazing. I know they have the staff there to develop me for the next level of football. Can’t wait to get there for the game! My family and I are looking forward to it and seeing the coaching staff again.”

As a player, Woodyard has plenty of size at 6-foot-2 190-pounds. He’s instinctive in coverage, shows impressive range, and he’s a willing tackler. He has the size, toughness, and ball skills that has helped him earn offers from Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, among others.

The California native is ranked by the 247 Composite as the No. 2 safety prospect, the No. 3 prospect in California, and the No. 29 overall prospect in the country for the 2024 class.
