ATHENS - As we’ve written about multiple times in the last week, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs hosted some major targets and commitments over the weekend as they took down Auburn 42-10.
Some major 2023 targets were in town, but we saw some of the state’s top sophomore make the trip as well. Multiple elite 2025 targets spoke with Dawg Post about their visit to Georgia over the weekend.
Zayden Walker, a 5-star candidate out of Schley County (GA), is a dynamic linebacker with offers from some of the country’s top college football programs. The Bulldogs have already offered and they have made an early impact in his recruitment.
“My favorite part about UGA this weekend by far was the game environment what an outstanding win! I got to hang with Peyton Joseph one of the prospects, and I got to talk a lot with coach dell McGee! #godawgs”
Justus Terry is a powerful defensive lineman who already looks like a D1 player at 6-foot-5 270-pounds. He’s tough, physical and can dominate opposing offensive linemen if they don’t block him properly. He’s an SEC-caliber talent and said he’s already establishing a relationship with assistant Tray Scott.
“It was my mom’s first time going to a college game so just experiencing it with her was great. Coach Tra always greets me with a lot of energy when I visit. Didn’t really get a chance to talk with other recruits.”
Elijah Griffin, another 5-star candidate and arguably the state’s top prospect in the 2025, made the trip from Savannah last weekend. An elite EDGE defender with versatility and the ability to get after the passer, it’s hard to find another sophomore defensive lineman in Georgia who has the talent, explosiveness, and frame that Griffin does. The 6-foot-4 270-pounder out of Savannah Christian Prep (GA) has a chance to be one of the top overall defenders in the country for the 2025 class.
“It was an electric atmosphere as usual every time I come to Athens”, Griffin said. “It’s a wonderful place to be just besides football. The highlights of it would definitely be how the coaches interact with their players and how they have a connection. I spent time with “Jah Jah” Jarrett and coach Scott is definitely the coach I spent the most time with. He comes from a great family and he’s just trying to instill what he was taught into his recruits. I love him to death”
Elyiss Williams is a long, athletic two-way player out of Charlton County (GA) who has an offer from Georgia to play both defensive end and tight end. A hybrid athlete with a long frame at 6-foot-6 215-pounds, Williams is expected to be one of the highest-ranked prospects in Georgia for the 2025 class over time.
“My favorite part of UGA was talking to coach Smart”, Williams said. “He’s a cool guy. I felt like I already knew him. He asked me how I was doing and was I enjoying my visit so far. I spent time with coach Hartley, too. He and I have been talking for a while now since he came to Folkston in the spring. I enjoyed speaking to Micah Morris who’s from Camden county right down the road from Folkston and tight end Oscar Delp.”
