ATHENS - It was a 5-star weekend in Athens, Georgia as some top prospects from across the country made their way to the Classic City to watch Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs dominate the Auburn Tigers.

The Bulldogs ran through the Tigers on their way to a 42-10 victory and impressed plenty of prospects in the process.

While the Georgia staff is still trying to close out a very strong 2023 class, they were able to host major targets in the 2024 and 2025 class as well.

One major target in town form the 2024 class is local linebacker Sammy Brown‍. The 5-star linebacker out of Jefferson (GA) spoke with Dawg Post about his visit and what he saw from Georgia’s standout defense.

“My favorite part was being able to catch up with other recruits and the coaches”, Brown told Dawg Post. “I was able to talk to a lot of the coaches but mostly Coach Schuman. I spent a lot of time with Hevin Brown-Shuler and Ashton Woods. We’ve played on multiple all star teams together so good to catch up with them!”

“Coach Schuman told me that a lot of his linebackers were sick all week and he had to play some second stringers”, Brown added. “So it was definitely impressive to see those guys get in there and not blink. They played very well from start to finish!”

He got that right. Guys like Rian Davis and Xavian Sorey stepped up on Saturday and the Bulldog defense didn’t miss a beat. Brown, who has offers from basically every major program in the country, is obviously very familiar with Athens and has formed a tight bond with co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, Glenn Schumann.

Brown is ranked by Dawg Post as the No. 1 prospect in Georgia for the 2024 class. At 6-foot-2 225-pounds, he runs like a deer and plays physical on defense. He’s dominated throughout his high school career and has been very impressive this fall as a junior.

So far this season, Brown has rushed for 737 yards on 101 carries with 9 touchdown runs. Defensively, Brown has made 45 tackles and one INT. He’s ranked by the 2024 Composite Rankings as the No. 1 linebacker, No. 2 prospect in Georgia, and the No. 9 overall prospect in the country.
