ATHENS - Kirby Smart‘s No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs will hear what Auburn center Brandon Council had to say loud and clear.
“They got some interior stunts that kind of hinders the run game, but we’re going to start off fast. If you start off fast, run the ball on them and keep them out of their third-down packages, really, we could demolish them - I believe personally - up front,” Council told reporters in Auburn Wednesday.
Council is in his seventh year of college football - transferring to Auburn after a three-year stint at Akron. Council was sidelined in 2020 with a knee injury. Auburn is 3-2 on the season and ranked No. 66 overall in rushing offense - gaining 159 yards on the ground per game. The Bulldogs are No. 12 in the nation against the run - permitting 89 yards a game.

Council went on to give his take of Georgia’s defenders:
“The guys that do come out, I don’t think they trust them,” he said. “If we keep them out of third down where they can’t bring packages and have to keep their main guys on the field, we’re just going to run the ball on them all day because they’re going to get tired.”
Georiga escaped Missouri with a 26-22 win over the weekend. The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry will be played for the 127th time this Saturday. Auburn has not defeated Georgia in Athens since 2005. The Dawgs have won all games between the two schools since with the exception of the 2010, 2013 and 2017 games at Auburn.
Council recognized that fact, and said it was an opportunity for the 2022 Auburn Tigers.
“We have the chance to go out there and do something that hasn’t been done in a long time, that’s beat Georgia at Georgia,” he said. “That would be a big thing. Our goal is to go in there like a SWAT team, in and out and quiet the noise, and beat their behinds and get out.”
Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs have lost once in Athens since the start of the 2017 season.
