ATHENS - It was a rough Saturday night for the Georgia Bulldog offense against the Missouri Tigers on Saturday. A unit that dominated against Oregon and South Carolina just didn’t click the way we’re used to seeing, scoring just 26 points in the road victory.

Some of that has to do with injuries at receiver. Starter AD Mitchell didn’t play against Missouri and hopeful to get back to 100% soon. Speedy wideout Arian Smith was back and made a catch, but he still doesn’t appear to be 100% yet, either.

Ladd McConkey made some plays, but a key drop in the 1st half didn’t help his cause after a really tough game against Kent State.

Of course, there’s still plenty of talent at receiver. That’s because Dominick Blaylock is STILL ON THE TEAM. An elite receiver out of high school, Blaylock had an excellent freshman season in 2019 but has dealt with injuries the last two years. Now, he’s back and he’s ready to make an impact.

Against the Tigers, we saw the Dom Blaylock of old. A strong route-runner with consistent, reliable hands, Blaylock made three catches for 42 yards against the Tigers. His catch in the 2nd quarter proved that he needs the ball more often.

With Georgia down 13-0 with 8 minutes left in the half, Bennett went to Blaylock on a key 3rd and 9 from their own 21. This was a 3rd down Georgia needed to pick up, and Blaylock was there to make the play. The veteran snatched the ball out of the air in tight coverage, and then dragged the Missouri defensive back another 8 yards. He also had a key reception late in the 4th quarter with Georgia down three, getting the Bulldogs deep into the redzone.

We all know what he brings to the table. We’ve seen it before. Now, he needs more opportunities to make plays. Good things happen when the ball goes to Blaylock, and it needs to happen more often. He’s a playmaker, and that’s wat Georgia needs more out of from the receiving core.
