ATHENS - The rat poison continues to come in for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs after dominating through the first three weeks of the season.
The top-ranked Bulldogs are CLEARLY the best team in the country right now and are striking fear into their opponents.
The national media has chimed in this week and one SEC expert believes the Bulldogs will stroll to another national championship this season. According to FanDuel, the Bulldogs have -500 odds to make the College Football Playoffs at the end of the season.
Here’s what SEC insider Peter Burns said about the Bulldogs on the SEC Network this week...
“The Georgia Bulldogs are going to go down as one of the greatest college football teams we’ve ever seen”, Burns said. “They will go undefeated the entire season and they will not even have an opponent get within single digits of them right now. Great on offense. Great on defense. Great on special teams. They will absolutely be better than last year’s team. This team will not be touched all season long.”
That’s a BOLD statement. But is he wrong?
Kent State will get their doors blown in by the Bulldogs this weekend. Missouri doesn’t want any part of Georgia. That game will be over by halftime. Vanderbilt? Come on. Auburn? They’ll be waving the white flags by halftime as well. Depending on the score, that could be Harsin’s final game at Auburn.
The Gators aren’t good. The Bulldogs will happily embarrass them in Jacksonville.
Does Mississippi State want any part of Georgia? Even at home? Doubtful.
Tennessee and Kentucky are probably the only two teams on the schedule who thinks they may have a shot at knocking off the Dawgs. Will Tennessee make it a game in Athens? I have my doubts. Kentucky’s a cute little team, but I’m not buying them giving Georgia a hard time in Lexington.
Is there anyone on the regular-season schedule that will make Georgia work for their win? Hey, I’m giving some rat poison too, but it’s not my fault. It’s Kirby Smart’s fault. He built a program that wants to “break” their opponents. So when it happens, of course we’re going to talk about it.
Last year’s team was special. This team could be too. The rat poison will continue to roll in each week so Kirby better get used to it if he’s not already.
His job is to push his players each and every day. To make them better by the time Florida comes around. The end of the regular season is where Georgia “might” get tested, so he knows his team needs to continue to get better with each practice.
If they do, the rat poison won’t stop anytime soon.
