ATHENS - It looks like another top Georgia Bulldog wide receiver target is coming off the board soon, and it’s one of the very best in the country in 5-star, Hykeem Williams.
The 2023 class is loaded with talented receivers, and the Stranahan (FL) standout is among the best of the best. A true playmaker with plenty of size and speed at 6-foot-3 200-pounds, Williams has the talent, burst, and strong enough hands to play in college right now.
He’s THAT good. Last fall, Williams caught 40 passes for 750 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The 5-star has narrowed his list of schools down to the final 6 which includes Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs, Miami, Florida State, Alabama, Texas A&M, and Pittsburgh, with a decision coming on September 23rd.
As far as his recruitment goes, sources told Dawg Post after his official visit the weekend of June 17th that this would likely come down to Georgia and Texas A&M. Up until late July, multiple sources believed that Georgia was the team out in front of the Aggies behind the scenes.
Now, we are hearing more and more that the Aggies are the team trending for the elite wideout. Florida State was his “dream school”, and Miami has pushed hard as well, but all signs have pointed to Williams leaving the state from what we’ve gathered.
“What I like most about Coach McClendon is that he keeps it real all the time”, Williams told Dawg Post. “He has put Georgia high on my list because I know that he can put me in the right position to get to where I want to be.”
Missing on Williams would hurt, but the Bulldogs still sit in an excellent position for two other wide receiver targets in four-stars Anthony Evans and Tyler Williams.
Evans, a Texas native and one of the fastest prospects in the country, told Dawg Post that he plans on making a commitment on August 26th. Williams, a sure-handed receiver with size out of Lakeland (FL), has plans to make his commitment on September 27th, but a commitment this month instead would not be surprising.
Right now, Dawg Post feels Georgia leads for Anthony Evans and Tyler Williams with Texas A&M being the team to beat for Hykeem Williams.
