ATHENS - As you know by now, the Georgia Bulldogs had some elite prospects on campus over the weekend, and one of the highest-ranked prospects in town was 5-star DB Ellis Robinson IV‍.

The elite defensive back out of IMG Academy (GA) is one of the top overall defenders in the 2024 class and has been a top target for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs for some time now.

Ranked as the No, 12 overall prospect in the country for his class, Robinson broke down his recent UGA visit to Dawg Post and spoke about what makes the program “special” in his eyes.

“The people in the building are pretty special”, Robinson said. “They make sure you feel comfortable and at home. Also, the relationship my family and I have built with coach Fran Brown, coach Will Muschamp and coach Kirby Smart has been genuine and sincere. They definitely make me feel like a priority.”

If there’s one thing you need to know about Robinson, it’s that he’s a competitor. He loves to work and perfect his craft. As a 5-star and priority target for the Georgia staff, the IMG Academy star didn’t have to compete in Athens over the weekend, but he did anyway, because he simply loves to compete.

“My favorite part of visit was actually getting to workout a little bit for them”, Robinson added.  “I didn’t have too, but I decided to jump in with the camp and get some work in individual DB drills. It was fun and I wanted to give them a look at me live and up close. It was cool to get some work in with coach Fran Brown, too.”

Georgia’s assistant coach has been recruiting Robinson for a while now, dating back to his days at Rutgers. He’s already established a strong relationship with Robinson, and that could help the Bulldogs stay towards the top for Robinson throughout his recruitment.

“Coach Brown is genuine and sincere”, Robinson said. He’s a ‘no BS’ type of coach. He’s the same guy now with me and my family that he was when he was recruiting me at Rutgers. He just does a great job of getting to know you as a person. With him it’s not just about football. It’s much more.”

As a prospect, Robinson dominated as a sophomore last year up in New York playing at Iona Prep. He did a little bit of everything for them last fall, making plays at cornerback, receiver, and a returner on special teams.

What stands out the most was his natural cover skills and excellent hands. He’s long and athletic at 6-foot-1 175-pounds, and he’s fundamentally sound in coverage. He has great footwork, knows how to run, and when the ball is in the air, he’s the one coming down with it.

As a sophomore last year, the 5-star made 45 tackles and an incredibly 8 INTs on the year. He reads the QB well, finds the football with ease, and knows how to come down with it. It’s easy to see his 5-star talent, and sources say the Bulldogs have put themselves in an excellent position in his recruitment. In the end, the Georgia staff will likely have to fight off Alabama, Miami, and Ohio State for his signature when the time comes.
